Fireworks YEAH!

Fireworks are fun but allot of work. Eric and I went to fireworks with some of the people from my Japanese school. It was good for me but it was better for Eric. He had a blast. To start out it was on the other side of Tokyo so first step was a 50 minute train ride across Tokyo. That wasn't so bad. Some one said it said it was a 25 minute walk to where the fireworks were. I thought no way. There is no place in Tokyo that is 25 minutes from a station. I was right it was not 25 minutes IT WAS 35. It was another hot day so even as I walked along a while sipping on a beer the heat was stifling. We finally got to the place to watch fireworks and there were a few people there. Eric found a spot to watch the fireworks but I shagged him down after I realized what he was up to. Finally the fireworks started and then Eric went crazy. HE was dancing around and screaming. Little did he realize that the fire works would last 90 minutes. After about 30 minutes he settled down and watched the fireworks. He also mingled with other people around us and made friends like he always does. He was especially friendly with the ladies and when he found a couple who liked him and got them to tend to his needs. Meh I do not need you "I got girls!" He lit some fire works and had more fun. Finally It was time to head home. Eric was knackered and we walked about 1/2 way back to the station when he could not walk any further, I put him on my back and he stayed up there till got to the station. At the station there was a massive amount of people all waiting to get on the train. We waited patiently and then I did my part as the big gaijin and put my kid in front of me and kept others from crushing him as they fought to get on the train. We stood for about 10 minutes and then finally got a seat, when we finally arrived at Kichijoji I put him on my back again and walked him to the bike parking place and managed to get him in the bike w/o waking him up. He was truly out of it. I rode us home through the humid night air and thought about what a big deal it was and how much trouble it was to get there and back sweaty and exhausted I put him to bed showered and then went to bed myself. Then next morning I woke up and Eric came into my room and laid down in the bed next to me. "Thanks dad for go to Hanabi (fireworks) last night." He said. "Any time buddy." I replied.
