Comming Home Day 11 Bringing the New Year in with a bang!

Saturday Dec 31 One thing that I look forward to the most every time I come home is going shooting. I know I know all the haters are gonna tell you guns are wrong and guns are bad. But I know for a fact guns don’t kill anyone its careless stupid idiots who do. Stepping down from my soap box. I went to shoot with Eric and my Dad and my friend Jason. It was allot of fun! Even for Eric. Yes I let my 4 year old son shoot a gun. He really enjoyed it. My friend Jason who I always go shooting with has a small .22 cal carbine rifle that is great for blowing off rounds and getting your fundamentals down with. Eric wasn’t really interested in his fundamentals’ but he did like to shooting with Jason helping him and after a while I let him shoot 1 round each with some of my other larger guns. He did not enjoy that too much so we switched him back to the small rifle. My dad had purchased a 9 mm assault rifle for a very cheep price. I spent about 20 minutes in the freezing cold trying to site it in. It was impossible I could dead eye it into the target after seeing where I was missing from but I could not get the scope to line up with where the rounds were going. I am not much of a fan of scopes, and I never really had a use for one. The Jason got out his NEW AR-15 that he bought. This is the same model (minus the 3 round burst function that I used in the Marines. I put in my hands and stood about 30 yards from the targets, sighted it up one time and then proceeded to go through and take out almost every one of the 20 or so clay pigeons we had set up. After a while it was getting cold and loading magazines became more and more difficult so we decided to call it a day. We went back to Patrick’s house and cleaned the guns and then sat down for some yummmmmmmmy Dinosaur BBQ food. Later I took Eric to Grandma and Grandpas house where he ate crab legs and had lots of Ice-cream. I went back to Patrick’s and we made started our New Years Party. It was a good time some of Patrick’s friends came and we geeked out watching the retro scope (tv from 20 minutes before of us from a video camera). Eventually we decided to get out and stroll down to the corner bar. It was the usual locals who had gathered. I was not particularly impressed but everyone was friendly so I gave it a shot. We had a champagne toast at midnight and had talked to some swingers who were trying to pick up me and or my brother. I became un interested quickly. I went out from there for a little while and had some and drinks else where. It was a OK New Years, but I was starting to feel like I wanted to get back to Japan.
