Migration

I have been running my server out of my house for almost 2 years now. Its a nice source of heat in the winter and a good source of noise all year round. I was getting annoyed with it and fedora so in a effort to learn some thing new I set up a old box I found laying around at work a dual pentium3 750 with 4 18 gig SCSI 10000 RPM discs and 1 gig of RAM. I think that should be sufficient for the little to no amount of traffic that my site receives. Setting up the Solaris box was not as easy as say most flavors of Linux make it on you.... but I managed to get it done with a little help from a co-worker. After that came setting up Apache MySQL and PHP. MySQL 5 was a package and went in with no problems at all. I compiled from source the other 2 and if you do not know how I feel about compiling .... I am not a big fan of it... for 2 reasons one dependencies can quickly turn into a nightmare and two when it comes time to update due to a security flaw or any other problem you can be in a hurt locker all over again and need to go through resolving your dependencies and sorting your config line again.

The real Japan

Eric and I went to anouther matsuri in Numazu after a quick trip to the beach. We had to catch a train in a hour so we did not have alot of time. We strolled down the lane of stands and I got a beer while Eric ate some shaved ice. As we made our way back to the station Eric wanted to play a game to win some fish. Just like the carnvile guy said "Everybodys a WINNER!" Eventhough Eric has no concept of how to play the game .... he gets 2 fish every time. This is part of the real Japan. This also anouther more anoying part.....as I purchased my ticket to get on the train Eric was standing a few feet behind me when I heard him scream. I turned and looked then there he was standing pointing to his fish on the floor. He had dropped the bag some how and was now screeming and tears were streaming down his face as his fish flopped helplessly oh the station floor. And not a single person stopped to help him.... Sad. I walked over and calmly scooped the fish into the bag with the remaining amount of water. I purchased our ticket and finally we went to the rest room and added some water to the bag. Tragedy overted no thanks to the local population though. It is pretty trivial a boy crying over dropping his fish....but I was really irritated by how little everyone seemed to care.... Regardless the fish made it home safely after that and just keep swiming round and round in the take with the other matsuri fish! E./

Augh Shit!

Ya so yesterday I was walking around Shibuya after my 350 yen lunch at a Japanese fast food place. The food is cheap and easy to eat quick and the taste is not so bad. After lunch I got up and walked around Shibuya where all the hot chicks are it is just unbelivable how many hot women can be packed into one part of town. Most of them are the type that want nothing to do with Gaijin guys but still they're nice to look at. Thats when it happened....... booooooottttet I though I farted a little wet but then the realization that some had slipped out. FUCK! Here I am in the middle of the hottest part of town with a load of shit in my pants and nothing I can really do about it. I tried a couple of places but apparrently alot of people were having the same problem cause every where I went the toilets were full. I made it back to the office and in our restroom I cleaned up and ditched my trunks in the trash...... How embaressing. E:((
