Gykogojin invasion of Kichijoji

New Dr. Martin Store
There is a new Dr. Martin Shoe store in Kichijoji. Some Ska shoes for those who love em.
I had a pair back in the day. They were comfy and nice but,

New Sbarro

Grease cheese and more grease ....in Kichijoji. I was never a fan back in the USA there are just too many good places to get pizza or calzones, but here in Japan, while it is a little pricey it suffices when needed.

Another Starbucks

What can I say, Kichijoji is a place for lovers, and people who like over priced, supper sweet caffeine laced cocktails. With the closing of one Starbucks, in the same building as Yuzawaya, I guess some one thought we needed another. This place is a bit more swank then some of the others I have seen. I meant to take a pic on the into the office this morning, but forgot, maybe tomorrow.

Server Fire

My wife called me and said that she smelled something burning, coming from my home server so she shut it off. Fried Resistor
When I got home it was and when I turned the server back on fire literally shot out the back. I turned it off quickly and tried to figure out what was wrong.

I pulled open the case and it was caked with dust. There was also a melted resistor on my video card that must have caught some of the dust on fire. I cleaned it out and put in a new video card, which went smooth as silk.

I also screwed around with trying to rearrange some of the drives in the bays, and replace the fans and add dust traps too them. That is where the trouble started.

Anna was very interested in some wires that lead from the case to one of the doors and started yanking on them.  I was busy holding a drive in its bay with its cables attached to it, when the metal case door started to slide off the table almost on top of Anna. I grabbed the case door and saved the baby but dropped the drive and the SATA connectors snapped off. CRAP!

That drive held my main xen DOMU that allowed me to access the server without putting the rest of the server on the internet. It was very customized and had lots of little scripts that I used to manage and backup other servers and do other things. I have a backup of it I thought, and I did, a list of installed packages, most of the scripts, so I had it up and running in a day or so later after buying another disk.

There was only one problem I forgot to back up 2 files. My passwd and shadow files. This is no big deal for me but there were others people who I do not talk to so often who had accounts, so if your reading this and can not connect to the ftp server anymore and want a account. Send me a e-mail with through this contact form and let me know you want a account again.

Hanami in Shibuya

Looking at flowers or lack there off. Hannami In Shibuya
I am not really into the whole hannami thing that happens every year. The cherry blossoms bloom and you sit under the trees in a park and admire them, while getting drunk, ussually.

I like to drink so it is a good time for me if I can go. Plus it is a very big social event for most Japanese especially here in Tokyo where the people out number the trees 1000 to 1. If you go too late in the afternoon it can be pretty messy. It is best not to look at the ground but instead look up at the flowers, you might see the results of someones over indulgance.
This year I was unable to attend a single hannami event due to other engagements and just generally being busy with work and family. I did how ever manage to grab a Hannami in Shibuyashot of a few seasonal sites near my office.

Beer Machine

Beer Machine ID Beer Machine Spotted this beer machine in Shibuya while on a stroll. You can still find beer machines if you look for them in Tokyo but they are not as common as they use to be. This one is fitted with what looks like something that reads your drivers license.
