Happy Birthday Eric

So Eric is 7. I almost can not believe it. My little guy is not so little any more. This year he lost 5 teeth, grew about 10 cm or more, and really developed more into his own person, with his own friends, and interests. He doesn't want to come to with me every time I go to rugby any more, and now on the weekends he lets me sleep and watches cartoons or plays games by himself. He is smart strong and tries to be fair with everyone. I am very proud of what a great young man he is turning into. Here is a shot of him cutting his birthday cake. I told him that I was bringing his birthday presents home when I came home from work, and then came in the house empty handed. Later after he cut the cake and we ate it, I sent him to draw the bath and snuck outside and got his presents. Here he is with one of the 2 or 3 sets of Legos that I got him. A big mid-evil castle complete with Orgs and gold smiths. I think he had a pretty excellent birthday. Definitely much better than last year.

My Big Boy

Man Eric is getting big. He lost his 2 bottom teeth about a month ago and his top 2 in the last 2 weeks. Sorry I am so slow with the pics I am working on a remedy for this. Here is my not so little 6 year old all 122 centimeters {= 4 feet} with out any teeth. He is skinny like me when he was I a kid and just as wild. I am a little worried about him just cause he just can't sit still unless he is watching Shawn the Sheep. We play soccer as much as we can when I get home but sometimes it does not turn out so good. Here is a shot of him getting ready to play. Sorry I have not posted so much about him or anything else but I am planning to make up for it allot in the very near future. E./

10 Years

10 years is a long time. So I have been married to my wife, Satomi for 10 years. I do not know what to say. Yesterday for our anniversary we had a small lunch and then went to look at a potential school for Eric, a couple of beers. Then back to our everyday life. I picked up Eric and she went grocery shopping. No big presents no promising for another 10 years, just back to our life's. One thing I do remember was 10 years ago I wanted alot of stuff, maybe cause at 25 I had nothing still. Seemed like we were always spending money on shit I wanted but did not need. Now I want less of everything, and more time. I also remember how I said I would make a certain amount of money by a certain age. I did that. How I did not know anything about computers 10 years ago compared to now, and how when I got out of the Marines 10 years ago...... I had no idea what I was gonna do or how. Over time I changed allot, I learned allot and I accomplished more than most people would have thought I was capable of, and I am still going for more. That is me, the outside has changed a bunch, but the inside is still basically the same.

Harvesting Rice

Every year, the rice has to get planted and harvested. The planting is time consuming but not so difficult. The harvesting is a lot less fun cause it is straight hardcore manual labor. This year was no different. I didn't have time to help with the planting and last year I did not help with the harvest. So this year I felt obligated to help out after everything that my father in law has done for me since I moved here. We got a late start and did not get moving on picking the rice till almost 9. By that time I was rearing to go and thinking about the fact that I had to be on the train heading back to Tokyo with Eric by 17:55. My father in law, he drives his rice cutting combine tractor, like he paid $10,000.00 for it. Slowly and carefully. That is why at about 1030 AM I was relived to see my brother in law Koji had shown up. He is my size and while he is not much for heavy lifting he does drive the tractor a little faster, like he stole it in comparison. With him behind the wheel things started to move along allot faster and by 2 pm we had finished the 2 large fields and were heading over to work on the third and forth.

If you dont know now you know.

BABY! Yep I said it BABY! I have been meaning to post this for a while but just have not had the time. Between work family and rugby I have been meaning to tell you that Satomi and I are expecting our second child, sometimes in early December. Things have not been easy lately especially for Satomi with the weather in Tokyo being so hot and sticky but now that fall is finally here things seem to be getting a little better. Here is a picture of the baby Satomi is telling me will definitely be a girl, but I think she and the doctors are wrong and am trying to prepare her for that.
